Transdisciplinary - Fashion

Studying fashion, it shows that working in a fashion industry you need to work with other disciplines such as photographers, to showcase your work. Also, studying fashion it allows us to learn the different disciplines within the fashion industry such as designer, machinist, pattern cutter, all those jobs are form the same field of work however everyone specialises in different field.

Fashion is becoming more advanced and is starting to think about different materials and textiles to use for garment. Fashion is starting to think more about the environment and sustainable way of creating garments that would become safer for the environment and not to produce too much waste. Brand such as Magic Lining in 2020 stared a transdisciplinary collaborative project that involves an artistic and scientific partner. Working with e-textile design, cognitive neuroscience, and human-computer interaction to explore a smart textile that alter people’s self-perception. Magic Lining questions with body tracking and sound based wearable technology could be used to alter self-perception (K.K, A.T, A.V. (2018). It shows that fashion can be more than just a simple garment, by transdisciplinary collaboration it can be something more, and allowing to create something unique that will benefit people. The inside of the garment and the production process comes more important than the outside of the garment. It changes how people see the outside world and how people perceive others. (K.K, A.T, A.V. CoDesign, 2020)
